A holiday house for a large family or a reunion, across the road from the beach
Idleside sleeps ten adults and four children in five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and has a dining table that seats all fourteen. It is a self-catering house in St Francis Bay, directly opposite Peter Road Beach.
Who sleeps where
Three rooms for couples and two family suites, so grandparents, parents and children each get proper space.
- Main suite: king bed, en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, a sitting area, and a private balcony with a sea view.
- Garden king room: king bed and en-suite shower room, with views onto the lawn.
- Garden room, king or twin: made up as a king or as two singles, with its own bathroom just across the passage.
- Sea-view family suite: a king bed for the parents and extra beds for two children under the eaves, with an en-suite bathroom and a balcony facing the ocean.
- Courtyard family suite: a double bed for the parents and bunk beds for two children, with an en-suite bathroom and courtyard views.
The four extra beds in the family suites are children's beds, so the house takes up to ten adults and four children.
Space to be together, and space to get away
The living area runs the width of the house under white-beamed ceilings, with the ocean in every front window. There is a wood-burning fireplace for winter evenings and a dining table that seats all fourteen of you.
A second lounge with a bar counter and TV looks out to sea, and the children have their own TV lounge, so the adults can keep theirs. The kitchen is set up for cooking for a crowd: a SMEG oven with a gas hob, an airfryer, a microwave, and cookware and serving dishes for a full house.
Outside
The fenced pool has sun loungers and a second outdoor dining table alongside. The braai courtyard is sheltered and straight off the kitchen, with a built-in braai and a table long enough for everyone. There is a lawn for the children to run on, a deck upstairs facing the bay, and secure parking off the road.

The beach and the village
The beach is across the road and safe for swimming, with lifeguards on Main Beach and George Road Beach in season. Children need an adult with them. The village, with a large supermarket, a pharmacy, boutiques, coffee shops and restaurants, is a ten-minute walk away.
How booking works
Choose your dates on the calendar on the home page and send a request. We reply within a day, and nothing is payable until we confirm. A 50% deposit confirms the booking. The balance and a refundable R1 000 breakage deposit are due 30 days before you arrive, and if you cancel more than two weeks before arrival everything you have paid is refunded.
